Do I need 4K Cameras?
4K is the gold standard of video clarity. 4K provides the ability to digitally zoom into live or recorded video while maintaining its clarity. This is key for identifying an individual or capturing a license plate at distance.
Before we go further lets make sure we understand the different resolutions available. The image below helps explain.
1080p - 1Megapixel
This resolution was amazing...six years ago, but by today standards 1080p usually does not meet consumers expectations. We do not offer cameras with this limited performance.
2K - 4 Megapixel
4mp cameras are sold by many online providers. The resolution is good but provides very little digital zoom capability without pixelating. This is the minimum level of resolution we recommend or offer.
3K - 5.5 Megapixel
3K cameras are recommended for general surveillance where good clarity is required but extreme digital zoom is not. 3K cameras are cost effective and also reduce the hard drive storage needed by 30% compared to 4K cameras.
4K - 8 Megapixel
