Cyber-Secure NVR Date & Time Settings
(00:05):
In this video, we're going to show you how to set the date and time on your Cyber-Secure NVR. To do that, you want to select the menu here, go to the system, and then time. You want to select the correct time zone where the system is located here. You've got some different date formats you can use. So month, day, year, year, month, day, day, month, year, however, you want to specify that. And you can do a 12-hour time or a 24-hour time. And then this tells us the system time, which you can manually change this way, or you can turn on the national time protocol.
(00:42)
So you would just need to put in the NTP server address and NTP port, which you can do a quick search online to find out. I think it's time.windows.org. That way it'll pull the time every 10 minutes using the time protocol. Basically, it'll just put it on internet time, kind of like how your phone always knows what time it is. We've also got daylight savings time here. So if you live in an area that supports daylight savings time, you can specify when it starts to when it ends.
(01:13)
Sync camera time means that if you set the time on the NVR, you won't have to set the time on all the cameras. The NVR will feed that time to all your cameras automatically. And a holiday is what you would put in if you were going on a specific holiday. So we would add a holiday here. The holiday name would be Thanksgiving. So we repeat it because it's a yearly one, you do it by day. When we choose Thanksgiving, we enable it. It repeats every year, and it's only on one day so the end time would be 11/26.
(01:55)
Okay. And then that holiday would show up, so that way when the system is recording, that can prevent people from accessing the system. There are some specific permissions for accessing the system while it's on holiday. There are also some specific permissions for changing holiday settings. The holidays are mainly there for the system to know if there are any adjustments to time that it needs to make. The holiday mode is not really too exclusive. It's used for security, not so much so that the system knows that you're on holiday, but so that it knows not to let anybody make any changes to the system while you're on holiday.
