Video Storage & Hard Drives

HD cameras generate huge data files. To support multiple cameras, all recording in 4mp or 4K clarity you need a lot of data storage. The video recorder stores the video footage on internal hard drives. The size of the drive and the recording options determine the total number of days the system can store. Setting all cameras to record only when motion is detected can double or possibly triple the storage capacity.

Recommended Minimum Hard Drive Size:

  • HD-CVI Series: 1 Terabyte for every 4 cameras. Typically a 1 Terabyte hard drive can store 1-2 weeks of footage for four cameras (we recommend 2 Terabytes)

  • Ultra-HD Series: 2 Terabytes for every 4 cameras. Typically a 2 Terabyte hard drive can store 1-2 weeks of footage for four cameras (we recommend 4 Terabytes)
