Notably, Wyatt Earp served as a police officer in Wichita before moving on to Dodge City. In the 1920s and 1930s, Wichita saw the establishment of aircraft manufacturing companies such as Beechcraft, Cessna, and Stearman Aircraft. This led to the city becoming a prominent aircraft production hub known as "The Air Capital of the World."
