ProVue How to to Backup Video Footage to a USB drive

(00:05):

Hi, this is Eric from Backstreet Surveillance. Today we're going to go over the playback, and backing footage up to a USB drive. Now, there are precursors to this that we need to consider before we begin. One, you need a formatted USB, and it needs to be put into the back of the NVR, preferably in the blue USB slot, which is the high speed. And so with that, let's begin. (00:36)

What we do is we come down here, and you can see that the menu comes up and we have the playback option, which looks like a little piece of 35-millimeter film. We click on this, and then what we're going to do is we're going to select the date. Now, as we go up here to the dates notice some of these do not have a line under them and others do. The ones with lines under them indicate that we have recorded footage. So let's go on Tuesday, the 6th. What we'll do is we'll choose camera one, and then let's go to say, 10 o'clock in the morning. So if we take the mouse and you can see from the grid here, we'll click on that, 10:03 is fine. And then from there, we're going to click on the scissors. And what the scissors do is this allow you to select the footage that you want to back up.

(01:38)

So once we click on this, notice what happens. We now take the mouse and you'll see we have two points here. The point here is where we begin the backup, and the point here is where it's going to end. And so let's take this and we'll slide this other pointer up to 11 o'clock. And so we drop it there. And once we do that, what we do is we click this area that looks like a little floppy disk, and it says backup. And then from there, we're going to select the MP4 backup type. Why? Because it's the most versatile between computers and other things. And so we hit save. And as you can see here, here's the USB that we have attached to the back of the NVR. And then what we do here is we hit the, okay, and you'll notice this will begin to back up.

(02:39)

So this is how you back up footage that you want for either personal use or for handing over to law enforcement. And so this is backing up to the USB drive that we have in the back. Now, keep in mind that as we back this up you may want to have a large USB that's formatted in the back, typically above 16 gigabytes or more, because these files, being that they're high-definition footage, can take a lot of storage space. And so it's recommended that you get something that is that big or larger. With that said, though, this is how you make a backup of your playback footage. Thanks for watching.
